that's exactly what happened in Livingston Parish during the month of February. While Denham Springs threw a big street parade, over 60 boats in Livingston paraded on water. Called the “Wildest on the Water” party in the country, the Krewe of Wrecks had their annual parade along the Diversion Canal.
February 27th, Bass Pro kicked off 3 weeks of the world's greatest fishing show and sale.

Livingston Parish, along with Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, Tangipahoa, West Baton Rouge and the River Parishes of St. Charles, St. James and St. John have put together fun for the whole family with this tour. While it’s geared toward third thru fifth graders, anyone can participate. Simply visit one of the tourist centers and pick up your tour booklet. After visiting and answering the areas in the booklet, individuals with completed booklets will receive a pin or special gift from that parish center. If all parishes are completed, participants may return to their home parish tourist center to receive a True or False T-shirt. |

We've been super busy at the Livingston Parish CVB. The past couple of months have found us attending the Tourism Summit in Marksville, LA. This event attracts over 500 participants from throughout the country, all united in their efforts to encourage visits to Louisiana’s tourist destinations. Then we attended a Mardis Gras celebration in Washington D.C. to strenghthen our political presence for Livingston Parish.
Next it was on to South Padre Island, TX for the Snow Birders Extravaganza. This event allowed us to showcase the beauty of our parish to over 7000 attendees. Livingston Parish is an excellent place for a 2nd home or wintering in the RV.
We've received very positive feedback from all of our travels. The word is out that Livingston Parish truly is a great location! |
Springfield - located in the heart of Livingston Parish - is home to the newest location of Lagniappe Restaurant. This is the third location, with two others in Denham Springs and Baker, LA. Patrons are sure to love the menu variety of steaks, seafood and Mexican dishes. TIP: they have a wonderful mushroom topping for the steaks. If you don't see it on the menu, just ask.
This new restaurant is just one of the many fine, unique dining experiences to be found in Livingston. Livingston Parish has a more than a fair share of restaurants from which to choose. Other great places to eat can be found by clicking here.
And if you're boating into the area, don't forget the great marinas:
Tin Lizzies Marina, Warsaw Marina and the public boat dock at the foot of the Hwy. 22 bridge.

| DID YOU KNOW: Parish Trivia |
How y'all are? Justin E. Wilson (April 24, 1914 - September 5, 2001) was a southern American chef and humorist known for his brand of Cajun cuisine-inspired cooking and humor. He was a self-styled "raconteur" and a staunch political conservative.
Wilson was born in Roseland in Tangipahoa Parish, one of the "Florida Parishes" of Louisiana. He began his career as a safety engineer while he traveled throughout Acadiana. His safety lectures that he made to refinery workers prompted him on the road to becoming a Cajun storyteller.
Wilson (who was actually only one-half Cajun, or "half-bleed Ca-jon" as he put it) later recorded several humor albums, beginning with "The Humorous World of Justin Wilson" on Ember Records. He also recorded several albums for Jewel Records on the Paula label. He later appeared as a guest on the popular CBS series The Ed Sullivan Show. He was known for the catchphrase, "I gar-on-tee!". He later wrote seven Cajun cookbooks and two books of Cajun stories, and hosted several cooking shows on PBS that combined Cajun cooking and Cajun humor.
You may have already known all of the above. But did you know his final resting place is in Livingston Parish? Justin Wilson was buried near the areas of Port Vincent and French Settlement.
